Group Eleven Resources Corp, a Canadian mineral exploration company focused on zinc exploration in Ireland has recently reported high-grade intersected assays highlighting an emerging zinc-rich massive sulphide zone at the Ballywire prospect. This is part of the company’s larger Stonepark project based in the Limerick region.
The underground zinc discovery from the Ballywire prospect held significant implications for the Irish zinc market, as it demonstrated the rich zinc potential of the region beyond the previously expected limits. The published results included the details of an 11.8-meter intersection yielding 11.6% Zinc-Lead (Zn+Pb) and 48 grams per tonne of silver (g/t Ag). Group Eleven’s assays reported an average grade of approximately 8.7% Zn+Pb and 15.6 g/t Ag over a significant 10.3-meter intersection. This was obtained from a downhole depth from 215.2 to 225.5 metres, including a 2.45-meter massive sulphide section grading about 11.6% Zn+Pb and 52.5 g/t Ag. This reflected the high concentration of valuable minerals beneath the surface.
In addition to the primary findings, secondary zinc intersections were also reported at a 0.5-meter interval, with 7.7% Zn+Pb and 32 g/t Ag at a downhole depth from 238 meters to 238.5 meters. This secondary finding further underscores the potentially vast zinc stock in the area and the high-yield nature of the exploration site.
Importantly, the assays also identified connections to other neighbouring zinc projects. This raises prospects of a significant regional zinc system in the Irish region, thus providing additional incentive for future exploration and development.
The distinctive potential of this zinc exploration was further enhanced significantly by the presence of silver. Considerable amounts of silver can significantly increase the overall value of a site’s extraction products, and hence incite a heightened level of investor interest. Silver concentrations were significant throughout the reported sections, with the highest tallying at 48 g/t Ag.
This Ballywire prospect represents an exciting development in the world of mineral exploration.
