The Nimbus-AG Zone is highly prospective for zinc and silver and holds significant potential for continued exploration. This is an overview based on the announcement from Millennium Minerals’ acquisition of Echo Resources Limited, including new exciting updates on the Nimbus-AG Zone, a significant zinc and silver project.
The Nimbus-AG Zone is located 15km east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia—a prolific mining region known for significant mineral deposits. The location advantageously places it nearby all necessary infrastructure, making it a relatively convenient spot for mining operations.
The project has been aggressively pursued since 2003, with an impressive drilling campaign taking place to explore the full potential of the Zone. Based on the findings of approximately 70,000m of drilling, the Nimbus-AG Zone has boasted excellent exploration results so far reflecting massive zinc, silver, and gold mineralization.
The completion of over 3,400 meters of infill and extensional drilling program has notably increased the resources. Several intersections were over 100m down-hole with up to 22% Zn, 26 g/t Ag (including areas with up to 860 g/t Ag) and minor gold.
According to a Mineral Resource Estimate, the Nimbus-AG Zone exhibits an overall geological endowment from surface to 430m depth. It hosts an impressive estimated 78,000 tonnes of zinc, 4.3 million ounces of silver, and 22,600 ounces of gold. With the sheer size of the Nimbus-AG resource, there is an excellent potential for the establishment of a large-scale, long-term mining operation.
Interestingly, the silver-zinc project proves promising for its silver potential, particularly in its high-grade Silver Lake floodplains. So far, the geological evidence in Nimbus’s Silver Lake and East Pit areas indicates that the silver-zinc-gold mineralizing system is still open at depth and along strike.
Critical to the project’s development is an ongoing process focusing on beneficiation and metallurgical study to optimize recoveries of the precious and commodity metals. There is a comprehensive metallurgical testwork program in progress, aiming to improve silver, gold, and zinc recoveries.
The support of more sophisticated technology has influenced recent exploration, particularly 3D seismic surveys. The 3D survey conducted back in 2016 provided a strong indication of mineral deposits and identified prospective spots for future drilling.
The data from the survey is now being re-processed and aligned with a recent gravity survey to pick new drill targets in 2021.
In summary, the Nimbus-AG Zone is showing excellent potential as a host for substantial zinc and silver deposits. The ongoing work and continued exploration undertaken by Millennium Minerals will hopefully further uncover the scale and potential of this project, ensuring a practical and viable route towards mining operations. With new technology supporting project development, there is a palpable level of anticipation for future discoveries in the rich ground of the Nimbus-AG Zone.
